The Netherlands

Hello there!

Changing the schedule to bi-weekly works fine for me. And there is progress I can show, so ~ yay!

Crochet & Knitting

Or more like lots of crocheting and pretending knitting does not exist.

The Ugly blanket

The Ugly blanket is finished!
When you want something done, you work to get it done. So, after the last session, I thought my back was broken.
Here is the ugliness in all its glory:

The ugly blanket is done

The ends are woven in already; I didn’t want to lay it down on the floor because it has been washed already. I will either give this to someone in my family or donate it.

Traveling Afghan

I had the opportunity to work on this, but I took a nap instead. So, sadly, there is no progress.

Cable hat

I sort of regret starting this hat, and I am sure as heck I will not use my precious Malabrigo for this pattern. I frogged it three times and changed hook sizes because the brim was too holey. And then I went off the gauge.

This is all I have at the moment:

Brim

And as I went on my mountain trip, I realized that I do not need hats - my red hair is my hat. Currently, I am contemplating whether to toss this as a whole or only toss the brim part. Because the hat looks fantastic and I can always gift or donate it. Now, I am more inclined to change the brim to sc or sl BLO and then fudge my way through the repeat that’s not shown in the pattern and then during the decreases.

I am unsure if I linked the pattern here before, if not - here it is.

Sis Shawl

Oh yes, this shawl gave me a headache. I mean that, literally. I worked on this yesterday for so long that my eyes noped out of it, and I went to bed with a nasty headache. And that is because I enjoy working on it!

I love how the brown gradient turned out. I am sceptical about the blue coming into that, but… it looked awesome in the cake, so I have my hopes up.

Sis shawl progress

Here is a bit closer picture to show the detail:

I need to shout out Joanna Grzelak for the construction of this shawl ~ even with the increasing number of rows; I still need to count to 9 max while doing the repeats.

Gamer Bunny

Oh well, you know how it is. One always needs an ami on the hook. I picked the Gamer Bunny by 1UPCrochet

Here is my progress: just the head and ears

Gamer Bunny

And I am like 77% sure that I will not use this head in the final ami. Why? Because I screwed up the stitches. I was doing YO instead of YU. Yep. I am that kind of idiot.

But that’s fine; I will use it to practice a new skill I wanna acquire: felted eyes. Don’t tell me that felted eyes are not the best for amis. You are not limited by the shapes and sizes in which safety eyes come, and the look of them is smoother than embroidered eyes.
I suppose it will not be the best for little kids - that’s a major disadvantage.

Acquisitions

I have been a good hooman and have not bought a single skein of yarn. But I bought some other things because there needs to be some sort of balance in the universe.

The first two are for my felting journey. Felt sheets - if you can get the rainbow, always get the rainbow:

And the tool for the felting needles. I have a few felting needles and the foamy thingy you can safely poke through, but I was missing the handle. So, when the opportunity arose, I bought a few more. Like, to be sure to have enough. I am sure you understand me.

And the last ones are these pretty colourful stitch markers. I do not need all 750 of them, but that was the only set I could find that ships to my location.

Stitch markers

They are sharp and sturdy - something I need for travels - and their shape is also perfect for knitting. I’m not too fond of the circles as stitch markers, because I want to be able to move them without sliding the stitches somewhere. The standard pins are too narrow to fit on bigger needles, and the plastic stitch markers are too thick. So, win-win.

Postcards

I got the following postcards:

Beautiful winter card from Estonia:
Estonia

Card from Munich - Germany. I LOVE the mountains in the distance, with the snowy tops ~ I can only wish we had the view here.
Munich - Germany

And the third is from The Netherlands - who wouldn’t like to add another HP card to their collection, right?
The Netherlands

I seriously need to start sending cards. I don’t understand why my brain refuses to do that.

See you in the next post ~
