Felting beginnings

Hello there!

It may look like I have spent little time on crafts. But I gotta assure you, the one and only FO took hours.

Crochet & Knitting

Traveling Afghan

It’s getting embarrassing - but still no progress. I started wondering whether this meh-state I am in towards this project is just for this project or for knitting in general. I hope it’s the former; dem ChiaoGoos were expensive.

Cable hat

No progress here, either. The only reason is that this was not a priority. I will work on it.

Sis Shawl

Sis shawl done

It’s done, and I love it. It has been gifted already (the night before blocking, phew~), but I have one cake left. I might do something else that’s lacey, and the gradient would be nice there.

I skipped the picot edging because I wanted the edge smooth. The person who got it immediately tried it on and did a few styles of wearing it, so that’s a good sign. Anyway, I am happy it’s gone, even though it was a pleasure to work on it. I might take a break from big projects done with thin yarn.

Here is a better picture with better colours - during one of the very few sunny days in March.

Blocking

Gamer Bunny

Gamer Bunny with felted features

Oh boy, I learned felted eyes! I finished the head, ears, and muzzle, and the body is also done but not yet stuffed or attached. So far, the pattern is easy to follow.

Regarding the felted eyes, I tried three materials.

  • Yarn: definitely NOT suitable for felting. It needs to be untangled and brushed. I did the outline for the eyes and had to take it out. I will need to use tweezers to get out the remaining tiny pieces.
  • Felt sheet: is okay, but it will lose shape once you stab the living existence out of it. I did the nose this way. It’s still a triangle but somewhat blurred.
  • Raw wool: this is the best option for me. You can use as much as you need, add more to fill the space, and finish with any shape you need.

I broke one needle within the first three seconds of poking through the tight ami stitches. I learned that I should hold the needle as low as possible. Just above the cuts in the metal and poke deep.

Felting beginnings

Oh, and I did use the head with the wrong stitch type. No one will know. Including you, shhh.

Postcards

I got just one postcard, but it’s super pretty (in case you don’t know me, I could have winter all year long):

Michigan - USA

It was sent from Pontiac, Michigan, USA, by a certain someone that made me jelly. I want snow here too! Even if it means snowstorms. Darn it!

See you in the next post ~ which will be a week late because I randomly decided to take the fam on vacation in Africa.
