Rainbow Star

Hello there!

Crochet & Stitching

Oh well, there are just two things I worked on, but there is significant progress on both.
I had people over the past two weekends because I screwed up my knee, and people came and offered help. I mean, I banged my knee so badly that I had to call an ambulance, and I screamed in pain in the ER. I’ve never done that before. So, when people heard, they came to cook for me, helped me get stuff from upstairs (can’t handle stairs just yet, dang it!), and even took care of my garden… that just takes all the priority over any hobbies.
I am grateful for those friends and family because they had my back, and I know I can count on them. And there are those other friends that were fussy about rescheduling our activities. Well, I can’t have it all, can I?

Anyway, I can “walk” without crutches, but it still hurts, so I do quite a bit of overtime at work to get my mind off that. And I can do crafts during work meetings. So, let’s get into those.

Hexie Cardie

Originally, I planned to keep this cardie because it’s just so pretty and in my fav colour. But a certain someone asked me if she could have it and I was so surprised that I immediately said yes.
I don’t regret it; I LOVE that someone wants my stuff. … That leads me to a short Instagram story: A lady DM me and was interested in some of my projects and wanted to buy them. She refused to acknowledge that I do not own a business, so I cannot legally sell her anything. It took a bit of convincing. – That baffles me. There are so many people on Instagram with better/more/cooler projects; why would someone contact me? ?_?

Well, back to the cardie. The panels are joined, and I added quite a bit of length to the bottom. I told the recipient that I plan to make it longer and add pockets. She also asked for buttons, so we went through my very humble button stash and found a suitable pack.

Here is the cardie in its naked glory:

And here it is on that person (it fits so well!):

And in case you ever wonder how do you frog this yarn:

That’s right; you don’t!

Rainbow blanket

This has been “in progress” for a while. But I changed the craft twice (crochet-knit-crochet), and I changed the stitch like twenty times.
I may actually start it after I finish up the cardie. But at least I started caking up the yarn - I had the cakinator outside, so I took the opportunity and caked up one skein before it started raining. And there was a tangle in the skein, so the cakinator hiccuped made this beautiful yellow star:

How in the hell can I start now and ruin the star?

Cross stitch

I finished the bookmark. Behold:

Bookmark finished

It may look tiny, but it took so much time. I got a lot faster with the second panel but still, wowza, the snail speed.
I don’t really have much to say about this. Hmm. I frogged the wrong cauldron part, and it was absolutely painless, but it took me about 45 minutes. And I changed the pattern because there was supposed to be a thicker outer border, but I worried that the plastic canvas would snap and the floss would stick out. So I just used a “dashed” border, and it looks alright, imho.

For some odd reason, this bookmark is already gone - a certain someone claimed it. A certain someone that is not even a HP fan. But I don’t question the motives of people that want my FOs. I want those stuff gone ASAP.

I started a sunflower, but it’s confetti style, so I am not sure if I will have the patience and brainpower to finish a counted confetti cross-stitch. Maybe. We will see the next time.

Acquisitions

Guys. Kill me. There was a sale.
We do not have yarn sales in this part of the world. I mean, we do not have sales when someone comes and says, “Everything is 15% off!” Nope, never; this was my very first time. We usually get “This brand or this particular colour is on sale”. But never everything.

I cannot pass up on a sale like this. So I didn’t.
I wanted to start building up my cotton rainbow (I already have a cotton-acrylic blend rainbow for amigurumi), and I ordered this to start up my rainbow:

And there were other yarns, but I cannot show you because: 1. It’s in my stash already, 2. My stash is upstairs, and I can’t go there just yet.

I don’t necessarily regret buying all that. It was a good sale, I got stuff I will use (eventually…), and I got the space and funds for it. But it goes strongly against my goals, and that’s what I do not like. But since it was such a good price, I will give myself a break. That should last till tomorrow because I have another box coming.
Well, I needed new headphones; coincidentally, that shop also sells yarn. The last time I shopped there, I wanted to but didn’t buy a particular Portuguese yarn, and I regretted that for months and they don’t sell it anymore. So, I got something different from the same company and some yarn for summer wearables. I am absolutely not prepared to knit tops, but I wanna try anyway.

See you in the next post ~ and this time, I hope I will be on time.
