rainbow skein

As I dipped my toes into the tunisian waters, I wanted to make something larger but still simple. And I had this beautiful rainbow skein.

I was looking for a pattern on Youtube, but everyone thought it was a great idea to explain tunisian crochet first and THEN get to the pattern very slowly. I can say that at this point, my tunisian fundamentals are solid. I gave up and just went with making a rectangle with the simple stitch. I wanted to practise so badly and see the yarn worked up. As the rectangle grew and grew, I decided to make a tote bag for (crochet) projects.

beginning

Isn’t the rainbow gorgeous?

getting bigger

The metallic strand was annoying to work with - it kept splitting from the yarn, so I contemplated pulling it out and tossing it out, but I went with it for some reason. Don’t ask me why; my mental process is foggy even to me. But if I were to work with that yarn again, I would pull it out.

The bag was rolling like a burrito, and the sides of the handles were curling inwards, so I had to give it a bit of wet blocking. I don’t own blocking mats, so the towel had to do the job.

blocking

It’s all the simple stitch because that’s what I wanted to practise. And I can say the handles do curl up a bit, but they don’t stretch too much.

Well, here is the bag in its glory, keeping the yarn for a future project.
